Myspace- A Place For Fiends

I have mixed feelings about Myspace- on one hand, it can be (at times) little more than a casting call for "Girls Gon Wild" or "Boys Gone Stupid" or whathave you.

On the other hand, I know for an absolute fact that we would have never gotten the word out about KING! in the same way without it...

That being said- feel free to check out & befriend us at Robot 13's new Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/robotthirteen.

Right now, we are just beginning to fill the page up, but there will be plenty of crazy announcements and odd goings-on in the not so distant future...

A Brave New World

I have been lining up my schedule lately, and I wanted to fill you in on what is coming up on the horizon. First of all, if you will be anywhere in the NYC area between December 7th through the 9th, take a wander over to the Jacob Javits Center and check out the NY Anime Festival. I will be there with some of the creative team for a new Manga series, Mecha Manga Bible Heroes. It's a really cool book, and we will have posters and ashcan previews available for the taking for anyone who wants to see what it's all about.

For those of you on the left coast, if you can wait until January, I will be joining Daniel Bradford once again at the Arizona Cactus Con in Phoenix, AZ. We will have all kinds of cool things for purchase, including copies of our latest (and to this point, Top Secret) new comic Robot 13. We hope to have other big things to announce at the Con, but you'll have to wait until January 26 & 27 to find out...

Arriving At Point A

Lately, it seems that I have been forced to re-think alot of what I already thought I knew quite well; Many aspects of my existence on Planet Earth have been called into question, forcing me to evaluate what is really important and what can be left at a moment's notice to recede into my rear view mirror.

Some parts of life are important in and of themselves- people I love, for example. Or Jesus Christ. Or Godzilla. You know... the important, "Desert Island" stuff.

Other things aren't so much, but I wouldn't give them up without a fight. Like writing. Or my Mets. Or Godzilla. It's not like I COULDN'T live without them, but it makes existence a little more well rounded and real somehow.

Then there are the things that I know shouldn't matter, but somehow do. These are things that I hold onto maybe a little more tightly than I should and maybe I act like they are essential when they are in fact just the happy byproduct of Providence. Like comics. Or rainy Summer days. Or Godzilla.

Right now, I'm not in the place where I have to give any of that up, but I am in the mode of looking at what is really, really needful and what is just along for the ride. 2008, by every advance indication, will be some kind of a cosmic vomit of my creative release dates, so I guess that I am getting myself prepared to manage my time... something that I have dodged like Jet Li in a forest full of Ninjas my whole life.

Or maybe it's all relative to the feeling that, while the past few years have been quite a journey, in some ways it's all just about to begin...

Either way, I think I'll be watching Destroy All Monsters tomorrow night.

Have to keep up with the classics, after all.

Never Mind The Bollocks

Whenever Daniel and I work on something together, it always seems very "punk" in some way to me; Not in the "Lip-synced-and-produced-for-video-Version" way, but in the "Bite-Me-If-You Don't-Like-it" kind of fashion. It's not that we look to do esoteric work- Quite the opposite, really. In every case so far, we've looked to do something commercial... but we both come from an artistic place where we have to satisfy ourselves and do what we feel is our best work first and polishing it for mass consumption always takes a back seat to that.

Case in point: Daniel will be doing some personal appearances soon, and the image you see here will be the special event print he'll be offering. He could do another KING! picture or something like that, but the image is of a spiffy new character we've developed called Robot 13...

Why?

Why not?

Besides- take a look at THAT! You know you want one...
