Changing Gears

If you know me well on a personal level, you'll know I hate surprises.

Even good ones.

ESPECIALLY good ones, to be frank...

Being such a guy, I don't have to tell you that the week I had was full of surprises. All the news I thought I'd be hearing didn't come, and what news I did get was not what I expected.

Now- being a guy who doesn't like to be surprised, doesn't mean that I am going to return the favor and dish it all here. In a nutshell, however, we still don't know what's going on with KING! but we do know that exciting things are afoot with Enlightenment...

Hopefully everything will be at an announcement stage sooner rather than later, but it's been a weird ride doing all this, so I wouldn't count on anything...

How You Know When You've "Made It"...

I had a discussion once with a friend of mine, and he asked me if I thought I was ever going to be "a success" at writing. That kind of too me back a bit- I started to tell him that I felt I had come a long way as a writer, and that more often than not, I could produce work that sucked less than my stuff used to... He stopped me and said, "No. I think you write fine. I mean- are you ever going to write something that people turn into a toy or something cool like that?"

Well- if that is "success," then Daniel and I are closer than we have ever been.

David J. Oakes, King of the custom Lego, is making
us sets of KING! Lego people! We met David at the Cactus Con in January, and aside from being super tallented, was a really nice guy. He's credited with making the first custom Star Wars Lego people years before Lego themselves got the license, and maybe is responsible for popularizing the idea that Lego people should be more than just yellow faced construction workers. In fact, the people working for Lego know him as "The Infamous David Oakes," because some love his creations while others are horrified he so heavily modifies them.

Once the sets are done, we'll not only post pics of them for all to see, but we are having an extra set made for a contest prize that one lucky KING! fan will win & get to have them all to themselves...

In the meantime- here's a preview of the Zombie of the set.

Groovie, no?

Why Can't We Be Friends?

As I said in my last blog, Zombies fans and KING! seem to go together like Peanut Butter and Bananas in a crispy Burrito shell... I have no idea why, but that's what I'm learning.

Someone tipped me off to Zombiefriends.com, a Myspace like site where you can meet and mingle with other fans of horror and things of that nature. Check out King's page here.

Make your own Zombie page and make sure to add King- he likes that... And vote for King as the "Zombie of the Month" too!

Braaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnssssssssss!!!

One of the unexpected things that has happened to us with KING!, is that we are becoming big with the whole "Zombie culture" set. For whatever reason, right now Zombies are hotter than... zombies who have been lit on fire. Even though KING! doesn't have Zombies doing some flesh munching in it, it strikes a cord with people who like that sort of thing. One group who has taken up the cause of getting people to know about KING! is the Anti Zombie League. It's a myspace group devoted to Zombies and the people who return the walking dead to their graves.

They did a cool interview with King himself, where they ask him all sorts of questions about his Zombie killing methods and things of that sort. Check it out here. Just be warned- King likes to cuss a bit... but it's funny none the less.
