The Mighty Mini Con...

The word aparently is out, so I might as well let you know- Daniel and I are going to be among the featured guests at the Might Mini Con in upstate New York. September 23rd & 24th, if you can make it up to Utica, come and see us. The guys from The Hunger will be there too, as well as Sherwin Schwartzrock, one of my favorite artists and a really great guy.

More than Sparrows...

I realize that my blog is mostly about me and Dan... well, basically, it's ALL about us, and after all, it IS my blog. I did want to point out one book that really rocks, that I have nothing to do with whatsoever. It's More Than Sparrows, a beautiful book by Jamie Cosley who is maybe my favorite artist in terms of having a body of work that I respect. Someday, I want to be Jamie- maybe, if I'm lucky, I'll get that good. His stuff is as far opposite of Enlightenment as you can get, but it's deep, funny, touching and just plain sweet to read.

Check out the interview he did with undercurrent comics here, and go to your comic shop and order a copy... you'll thank me for it later.

Coming soon to a Con near you...

I got a crazy set of E-mails this week... Not "hide the sharp utensils" crazy or "get these spiders off me" crazy, but more like "Ripley's believe it or not" crazy. The kind of thing you almost don't believe, but when you look at it in writing you know it's true.

Daniel and I are going to be featured guests at a Con.

As far as I know, every little detail hasn't been finalized yet, so I can't announce which Con it is, but I will say it's going to be in the fall- well before Enlightenment: the devil you know comes out. I realize that 2007 will be a big year for us, and we'll be hitting Cons like LA cops on a freeway... but I never thought we'd start this early.

Shows what I know, don't it?

Stay tuned for all the info.....

Blinding me with SCIENCE!

From time to time, I like to tease and tantalize you with a peek of Daniel's other book, Smoke & Mirror. I can't exactly tell you what the storyline is, but I can show you these pages from the upcoming book. They are still being colored, but they give you an idea about how freaking COOL this book is going to be...

1 2 3 4 5 6 8 22

...and don't ask me where the other pages are. Beggars shouldn't be choosers- it's just not polite.

Smoke & Mirror... the Action Figure?

If you watch the movie Spaceballs (and I would suggest you do) you will remember how as the movie went on, everything and anything was licenced even if it was pointless. Spaceballs- the bedsheets! Spaceballs- the toilet paper! Spaceballs- the flame thrower!

Until we get someone to make an Enlightenment "grow your own frog" kit or something like that, I'd suggest that any of you who like Smoke & Mirror go out and get the new action figures. Why should I care? Well, aside from being an already cool book, the art for Somke & Mirror is being done by none other than Daniel Bradford. And guess who's character designs they are using to make the figures? Hmm... Can a Green action figure be far behind? We'll see...

Check out the news here and get in on the fun!

Free Comic Book Day!

For three years running, some of the guys from Megazeen have gone to New Moon Comics for Free Comic Book Day, and I tagged along as usual. We had a blast- the artists among us gave out free sketches, while I chatted with one of the other writers on hand. I picked up a copy of Owly and a book called The Preposterous Voyages of IronHide Tom- both of which I'd recommend. Not scary and wigged out like Enlightenment, but sometimes you just want to kick back and read a comic that's just pure fun.

Maybe next year, Enlightenment will have it's own free comic book. We'll see....

(Un)Dead like me...

One of the fun parts about being involved with Comics, is that I have wound up with a bunch of Comic-Creator friends; It makes typical “shop talk” conversations that much more fun when you are chatting amongst yourselves about superpowers and far-out plotlines and such…

Another “perk” of having friends in the industry are cameo appearances. In our book, Enlightenment: the devil you know, we used one of our friends Chuck Satterlee as the “model” for a serial killer victim. He’s returning the favor in an upcoming issue of his book Of Bitter Souls by making Dan and I part of a Zombie horde. (See picture- Dan is wearing the hat, I’m next to him in the glasses) and hey- we can tell everyone we've been drawn by Norm Breyfogle!

Check out the Markosia website to see more of OBS- it’s a great book and is worth buying if for nothing else than to see if they have me eating brains….
