Today is Halloween; It's a time of the year that is near and dear to me. Having loved horror movies and all things fantastic when it comes to movies and entertainment, it's a great time to look at all the fun stuff that I am into.
Tonight, I got to watch Planet Terror again, and I found out that we have yet another surprise on the Mecha Manga Bible Heroes front- the Dayton Daily News in Ohio ran a story today about us, and it was picked up by other papers all over the place. You can see the coverage in the Dayton paper here, and subsequent other papers who ran the story here, here & here...
I could go on, but you get the idea.

Going A*P*E*
Lately, I have had a coincidence of monkey related stuff falling into my lap:
I bought the very cool Album titled Monkey Business by ill Harmonics this week~ love it!
I was given a sweet new Tee by Kallusive called Gorilla Tactics (mine is a Black/Gold version).
The very odd Speed Racer movie came from Netflix this week... Chim Chim!
It was really weird... everywhere I turned this week~ MONKEYS!
What does that have to do with anything?
Maybe Nothing...
Or maybe you'll see monkeys in something I'm doing... one of these days, anyway.
Stay Tuned.

On The Record
It's always amazing to me when something I do gets coverage somewhere; it doesn't matter to me if that coverage is on a podcast, a small publication or something with a much wider audience~ I am always taken aback and somewhat humbled that someone decided that what I am involved with is newsworthy.
In today's Sunday Record, maybe the biggest newspaper in Northern New Jersey, Mecha Manga Bible Heroes got a beautiful 2 page spread. You can go here and read it for yourself...

Come Grab A Slice
Recently, Farpoint media featured Mecha Manga Bible Heores on their Slice of Sci-Fi podcast. The favorable mention was part of their #183rd podcast, which can be heard on their site, downloaded on iTunes or here...

Time Will Crawl
Today, I downloaded from iTunes a new mix of Time Will Crawl by David Bowie. For reasons that I have a hard time putting into words, it's been one of my all time favorite Bowie songs, and the new mix is another excuse to listen to it all over again and find new things I like about it.
The ironic thing about me listening to this song on this particular day, is that I found out that there would be some new things on the horizon concerning KING!, but that they won't be in the stage where we can even talk about them publically until at least early 2009. While knowing good things are coming is a great thing, it's like hearing news of Christmas in July... Time indeed will appear to crawl.
2009 is shaping up to be a big year for Daniel and I.
In the meantime, rock out to Bowie

No Blood For Oil
The creative process can be, at times, a very solitary experience. Even when I am working on a project with a team of other people, I find that there is a tendency for everyone to focus on the task at hand to the point that they insulate themselves from the world at large.
That is why it's always good to have many sets of eyes looking over the final product; Quite often, something that seems fine & is perfectly logical within that creative cocoon is percieved in a totally different way from the reader who picks it up with no knowledge other than the work before him...
In a recent podcast review of Mecha Manga Bible Heroes, there was a controversy about the picture shown above. One of the reviewers, seeing the liquid pouring out of the Goliath Robot said he thought it was blood. The other review said he thought is was oil...
The truth is- that liquid should be coolant, like in a car, and should have that day-glo greenish tinge to it... In fact- if you take a close look at the green wires coming from the other spots near David's feet, you can get an idea as to what color SHOULD have been used on that liquid.
How did it happen that it's red & therefore may look to some like blood?
If you look at the overall color scheme of the robot, it's skin is all blacks and dark purples, and the accent colors are all red. The red in the liquid was dropped in to match the other robot colors, forgetting the fact that it should be another color because red liquid in that context looks like blood. It wasn't the colorist's fault, because from a visual standpoint it does flow with everything else on the page, and the direction he was given on that was very unclear.
In this case, what happened was~ because the color didn't stand out as being odd given the color scheme of the rest of the images on the page, nobody noticed until the book was printed.
Does it really matter, however?
Well- our take on Goliath's beheading is FAR less gruesome than the actual Bible text.
Not only did David cut off Goliath's head, he took it and was STILL carrying it around with him some days later when he meets King Saul...
If it does matter to YOU, though, I can honestly say there is no blood in Mecha Manga Bible Heroes.
Robots? Yes.
But no blood.

(Guinea) Pigs In Space!
Today I saw on Google that the guys over at CrossFeed News were nice enough to follow up their very kind mention of Mecha Manga Bible Heroes with a very nice review. They give it a fair shake & really seemed to enjoy it. Check it out here or go to iTunes & download it... You have to go into the broadcast to 00.57.35 before it kicks into the review, but it's kind of a fun show so check the rest of it out anyway...

Underground Cuts
As I mentioned last time, I was interviewed by a podcast from Spiritblade Productions about Mecha Manga Bible Heroes. You can listen to it here~ Honestly, it was one of the nicest experiences I've had giving an interview yet. Paeter, the host of the show, is an excellent interviewer who asked good questions and was well prepared to speak with me. I'd welcome future interviews with him any time...
If the listening to the podcast moves you to check out Mecha Manga Bible Heroes, hop on over to Deepershopping.com. The book is on sale for LESS than cover price here.
How can you go wrong?

Under The Knife
Ever since Paul and I developed the idea for Mecha Manga Bible Heroes, I have found myself doing more promotion than for any project I have ever been involved with. One of the things that means, is for the first time, I have had to keep a callendar for myself detailing everything that is going on. While that is good & it means that many people are interested in the project, it also means that I am crazy busy...
Tomorrow, I will be doing yet another interview for the podcast of Spirit Blade Productions in Arizona which you can check it out here...
Today's image is "David slaying Goliath" by Peter Paul Rubens...

Secret Agent Man
It's interesting to see how fans of Mecha Manga Bible Heroes just seem to come from out of nowhere...
Case in point- The Secret Identity Podcast, out of nowhere, seem to really like the book. Check out what they say about it here.
Nice, right?

And Now For Something Completely Different...
Normally, I spend my time & energy here talking about what I am doing or am involved with. I wanted to change gears, just for today, and tell you all about a very fun, cool webcomic that I am a big fan of- Araknid Kid. If you haven't been keeping up with the story so far, you can see it here. Starting October 13th, you can see the rest of the current story here...
For those of you that want to know more about Josh & his art, you can go to his website here.
Trust me- he's going to be on to big things...

Invasion Of The Podcast People, Pt. 1
It's amazing what a person can find on Youtube if you start looking around. From the surreal to the weird to the just painfully wrong, there are videos about almost anything...
Case in point: this.
It's a podcast video that does a nice piece about Mecha Manga Bible Heroes.
We will be mentioned on a few podcasts in the near future, so stay tuned...
Today's image is the cover from the new Jeff Slemons comic. No point to showing it- it's just freakin cool.
